Food For Thought - Hands-Only CPR
On the Menu... Hands-Only CPR
Hands-Only CPR is CPR without mouth-to-mouth breaths. It is recommended for use by people who see a teen or adult suddenly collapse in an ?out-of-hospital? setting (such as at home, at work or in a park). It consists of two easy steps. Come learn more!
About the Program:
Did you know that the leading cause of death in the United States is Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA)? SCA strikes over 350,000 people each year and tragically the national survival rate is only 5%.
This deadly condition can affect anyone of any age at any time.
What can you do about this? Learn CPR and how to use an AED; these things can double, if not triple, the chances of survival. South Metro Fire Department along with the Dakota County Heart Restart and Heart Safe Communities have a goal of training 10% of the population of South St. Paul and West St. Paul in the life-saving skills of CPR and AED use.
