South St. Paul Educational Foundation to distribute more than $614,000 in post-secondary scholarships

South St. Paul, MN (May 13, 2026) 

 

The South St. Paul Educational Foundation (SSPEF) will host our 42 annual scholarship distribution celebration at the Dr. Dave Metzen Scholarship Hall at South St. Paul secondary school at 6 pm. This year, 133 students will receive scholarships totaling $614,900. Scholarships are funded through generous donors and families who have established scholarships for South St. Paul students throughout the years. Scholarships are awarded to students attending vocational, trade, 2-year and 4-year institutions.  

 

Both the amount given away and the number of students make this event like none other in the state. The South St. Paul Educational Foundation was established in 1984 to provide funds for projects and activities that go beyond the traditional classroom. Over the years, the Foundation has also given out $8.9 million to more than 4,100 students to help them achieve their post-secondary goals and dreams. In addition, they support classroom enhancements and initiatives through $80,000 in classroom program grants annually, so every student in the district benefits. The Foundation mission is: Bridging Students and Donors to Enrich Learning and Impact Lives.
